Small businessperson and farmer Ron Meyer knows that success is all in the details.
For example, Meyer’s portable toilet rental business stands out over his competitors because, quite simply, he makes sure that his “Porta-Potty” units offer that little something extra that makes the difference.
“Because my name is on the door,” Ron says, “I want people to come out of there to think, ‘that is the best portable toilet experience I’ve ever had.’”
That means impeccably clean units, each with rope lighting installed around the skylight; a tasteful artificial flower arrangement on the wall; mud mat on the floor; and a small mirror on the door for a final primp on the way out.
“WESTconsin Credit Union treats me the way I try to treat my customers,” notes Ron, who has also operated a septic tank cleaning service for 35 years. “I have a bank right down the road here, about two miles, but I would much rather drive the other eight miles to the credit union just because of the service that I get there. When I come in that door, it’s ‘Hi, Ron!’ They want to know how I’m doing; how are the crops doing. It’s those little things that make me feel like they appreciate my business.”
